Okorocha’s in-law, Uche Nwosu speaks on running for Imo governor on fraudulent ticket

The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in Imo State, Uche Nwosu, has said that there was no controversy surrounding his emergence as the party’s candidate.

He was reacting to a court case instituted by Mr. Myke Ikoku challenging his nomination process under AA.

A statement issued on Wednesday by Jones Onwuasoanya, Director, Media and Publicity of Uche Nwosu Campaign Organisation, noted that as the governorship candidate of the Young Democratic Party (YDP) in the state, Mr. Myke Ikoku cannot lay claim to the governorship ticket of a political party he does not belong to.

The statement said that the Electoral Act was very explicit on the consequences for dual nominations.

The statement claimed that Nwosu went through the correct legal, political and even moral processes before securing the ticket of the Action Alliance.

“Myke Ikoku is the governorship candidate of the Young Democratic Party and therefore cannot lay claim to the governorship ticket of another political Party. The Electoral Act is explicit on the consequences for dual nomination.

“The governorship candidature of Uche Nwosu is not in any form of credible contention from any quarters.

“Uche Nwosu went through the correct legal, political and even moral processes before securing the ticket of the Action Alliance.

“Imolites, especially, hundreds of thousands of the youths, have freely volunteered to guard the votes that will be cast for His Excellency Ugwumba Uche Nwosu.

“We wish to assure our teeming supporters and Imolites in general that Ugwumba Uche Nwosu’s candidature on the AA platform is the safest, most credible and most legitimate governorship ticket in Imo State in the 2019 election season.

“Our supporters should therefore keep their PVCs safe, get their camp packs ready and get set to cast and police their votes for the AA on March 9th,” the statement said.
