NPC Ad Hoc Staff in Kano Protest Over Unpaid Allowances

Over 300 NPC ad hoc staff members in Kano have protested against the National Population Commission (NPC) due to the non-payment of their 18 days’ training allowances since February 2023. The spokesperson for the group, Aliyu Rulwanu, claimed that the commission has been using a selective payment mode, which goes against the agreed terms.

Rulwanu stated that they have written letters of complaint to all relevant authorities regarding the unpaid allowances, but no action has been taken despite assurances. The group felt that they had no choice but to embark on a peaceful protest to voice their grievances.

In response, Kano NPC Public Relations Officer, Jamila Abdulkadir Sulaiman, explained that the staff had made errors in filling out their forms, causing the commission to take time to rectify the issues. Sulaiman noted that some staff members had already received their payments after correctly completing their forms and urged the remaining ad hoc staff to be patient, as everyone would soon receive their payments.
