1. Activist, Omoyele Sowore, has been remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre on the order of an Abuja Magistrate court.
The court said that the bail application filed by Sowore and four others will be heard today, January 5, 2020.
2. Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, has insisted that the Federal Government of Nigeria has no plan to inflict a second lockdown on Nigeria as the country fights to curtail the second wave of COVID-19.
Mohammed also urged Nigerians to adhere to all guidelines issued by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
3. Lagos State Government has approved Monday, January 18, 2020 as the resumption date for all public and private schools below tertiary level.
Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, who made the announcement in a statement Monday, said the reopening was in line with the Federal Government’s directive.
4. The Enugu State Ministry of Education has announced January 18, 2021, as resumption date for all schools in the State.
The decision, according to a statement by the State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Uche Eze, was reached at a meeting between the Ministry and major stakeholders in the sector, on Monday.

7. A herder has been killed in Atyap Chiefdom, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State while five suspects have been arrested.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in the State, Samuel Aruwan, who announced this in a statement, said the military, under the auspices of Operation Thunder Strike, informed Kaduna State Government of the killing of a herder while grazing in Matyei village, Atyap Chiefdom of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
8. A Monday early morning fire disaster at the residence of a Damaturu based renowned farmer, Engr. Samaila Adamu, destroyed grains and apartments worth millions of naira.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the fire outbreak was caused by burning sesame stalks in the house which is located at 3-Bedroom Housing Estate, Gujba road, Damaturu, led to the destruction of four rooms, about one hundred bags of grains, vehicle spare parts as well many bags of fertilizers, among other valuables.
9. Three brothers have been arrested for allegedly killing security guard in Ogun
The brothers, who were identified by the police as Okiki Mulero, 23, Micheal Mulero, 21 and Joseph Mulero, 17, were arrested for allegedly beating a So-Safe corps officer to death in Ogun State on Christmas Eve.
10. American actress, Tanya Roberts is dead.
Tanya passed on at the age of 65, after collapsing while out walking her dogs on Christmas Eve, 2020, and was admitted to Cedar-Sinar Hospital in Los Angeles.
