A 33-year-old man, David Victor is to spend the next 25 days in the Kirikiri Prison for allegedly raping a teenager, an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court ruled on Monday.

The accused, who resides at No. 2, Bode Tobus St., Dopemu, Agege, Lagos, is facing a count charge of rape.

The prosecutor, Insp. Christopher John told the court that Victor raped his 16-year-old neighbour in November 2017, at his residence.

John said that the accused lured the teenager to his room and raped her.

“Victor also threatened to kill her if she dared to tell anyone about the crime he committed.

“The girl’s parents, who reside in the same compound with the accused, reported the case to the police after their daughter narrated her ordeal,’’ John said.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravenes Section 262 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr P. E. Nwaka, remanded Victor pending advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on the case.

Nwaka directed that the case file should be sent to the DPP for advice.

The case was adjourned until August 30 for mention.
