House of Assembly election: Ondo Police read riot act to politicians, troublemakers

Ahead of the Saturday’s House of Assembly election, the Ondo State Police Command has assured residents of the state of violent-free electoral process.

Assuring that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure peaceful conduct during the polls, the state Commissioner of Police, Undie Adie, on Thursday in Akure, the state capital at a meeting with stakeholders, maintained that the Police would not only be neutral but also ensure a free and fair exercise, adding that trouble makers would be dealt with.

According to Adie, “During the last election, there was restriction of movement and that restriction would also take place this Saturday from 6am-6pm. Anybody that violated the restriction order shall be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

“We don’t want to see anybody with fire arms before, during and after the election in Ondo state, if anyone found with weapon such would be arrested and prosecuted everyone should obey the law.”

The state police boss who called on parents and guardians to mentor their wards from floating the electoral guidelines, before, during and after the elections, maintained that any politician caught in any conduct that negates the electoral process would be arrested and prosecuted.

Reacting at the stakeholders’ forum, the state chairman of PDP, Clement Faboyede, emphasized that his members would be law-abiding before, during and after the elections saying that “we will always continue to cooperate with people in the state to ensure peace.”

Also, the Legal Adviser of APC, in the state, Mr. Benson Aderosi, said that the party would cooperate with security agents to ensure peaceful election.
