DAILY POST gathered that the party had on Saturday elected Mr. Olalekan Ayorinde as its gubernatorial candidate during primary election that took place in Ibadan, the state capital.
Olalekan, it was learnt defeated Mrs. Bolanle Sarumi, a female aspirant in the primary election.
But, the aggrieved members in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Dr. Lara Ajagbe, a copy, which was obtained by DAILY POST on Monday, noted that the governorship primary election held on Saturday “was marred by series of irregularities”.
Ajagbe said, “We were told that only registered members would be allowed to vote, but we were shocked when members who have paid the party’s registration fee and have been duly registered could not find their names on the list made available at the election venue.”
“After this discovery, we sought to know why the names of those who were not dully registered were on the list but nobody gave us any reasonable explanation”.
Ajagbe, therefore, called on the national leaders of the party to wade in by nullifying the election and organise a new primary election of which they should closely monitor.
Ajagbe noted that failure to put things in order may diminish the chances of the party in the 2019 general elections in the state.
