Deadly Assault in Kaduna: Gunmen Claim 8 Lives in Atak Njei Community

At least eight individuals lost their lives in a brutal attack by gunmen in Atak Njei, Ungwa Gaiya Ward, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, as reported by Daily Trust.

The assailants descended on the community around 9:00 pm on Wednesday, leaving many injured, according to Yabo Chris Ephraim, the Special Assistant to the Executive Council Chairman on Media. In a statement, council chairman Francis A. Sani condemned the incident as the “unprovoked killings of innocent and peaceful people.”

Sani expressed his disappointment with the security agencies’ failure to make any arrests or hold perpetrators accountable following numerous attacks. The statement further revealed that community members have accused security agencies of colluding with the attackers.

Residents requested the removal of soldiers who, despite being stationed near the attack sites, have failed to provide adequate protection. The chairman sympathized with the affected families and arranged for the burial of the deceased.

At the time of reporting, Kaduna Police Spokesman DSP Muhammed Jalige had not responded to calls from reporters.
