COVID-19: One person infected 533 people with coronavirus- Akufo-Addo

Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo, has disclosed that a worker at a fish-processing factory in Ghana’s Atlantic seafront city of Tema infected 533 other workers at the facility with the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Ghana’s president said this in a nationwide address on Sunday night as he lifted the three weeks restriction on movement in parts of the country implemented to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Akufo-Addo, who did not provide details of the virus spread in the facility or if safety measures had been in place, also announced an extension of the ban on public gatherings until the end of May, stressing that schools and universities will remain closed.
According to him, the 533 positive cases, which represent around 11.3% of Ghana’s total infections, were part of a backlog of about 921 cases going back as far as April 26 that are only recently being reported.
“One person infected all 533 persons,” President Akufo-Addo said.
“The implementation of our strategy of aggressively tracking, testing, and treating is our surest way of rooting out the virus,” He added.
Ghana now has 4,700 COVID-19 cases, 494 recoveries, and 22 deaths as of Sunday night.
