Amina Zakari: Ex-minister, Ikimi tells ‘Buhari’s niece’ what to do about new INEC position

A former Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Tom Ikimi, has told Amina Zakari to decline her appointment as Chief Collation Officer for the February presidential poll.

Ikimi stated this at a rally of the Edo Central of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP yesterday.

Mrs. Zakari’s appointment by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has met stiff resistance from opposition political parties ahead of the general elections.

They said her new position was aimed at rigging the election in favour of President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Ikimi told the crowd that it was inappropriate for INEC to appoint a relative of a candidate to collate results of the presidential election.

He added, “INEC has a responsibility to conduct a free and fair election. It must be above board. Mrs. Amina Zakari must disqualify herself.

“INEC must listen to the voice of reason. It is clear that Nigerians say no to Mrs. Amina Zakari.

“Nigerians need a compassionate and experienced leader like Atiku and not Buhari who has pauperized the people “
