The Kaduna State Government has announced that Nigerian Air Force strikes successfully neutralized fleeing bandits in the Birnin Gawri Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Mr. Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Wednesday in Kaduna. Aruwan reported that the Ministry received a distress call around 9:44 am about armed bandits attacking Sabon Layi village in Birnin Gwari LGA, where they were committing various crimes, including rustling cattle, looting properties, and shooting, causing residents to flee for safety.
The Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch was contacted for assistance and promptly responded to the location. Aruwan explained that the bandits were sighted fleeing for cover from the aircraft about four kilometers north of Sabon Layi village and were subsequently engaged and neutralized in several passes.
After the air strike, no further movement was observed. The aircraft maintained its presence overhead before withdrawing. While the government awaits a formal report on the initial attack in Sabon Layi village, Governor Nasir El-Rufai commended the Air Component for its swift action and expressed gratitude for neutralizing the fleeing bandits.
