Dr Fabian Benjamin, in charge of the board’s public affairs and protocol, said this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
You may remember that the board gave the extension to help candidates who couldn’t register for the 2023 UTME between January 14 and February 14 because of what was happening in the country then.
Benjamin said that about 1.6 million people had signed up for the 2023 UTME by the end of the registration period.
” This number does not include the Direct Entry component of the exercise, which had started on Monday, February 20 2023, before it was put on hold on Tuesday, February 21 2023.
” The board registrar’s monitoring team, which has gone around the country, was in Nasarawa and Delta states on the final day of the exercise to oversee its conclusion.
” In Asaba, Delta State, the team visited Trinity Innovation Hub CBT Centre; Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku CBT Centre 1 and 2; Delta State Library CBT and others.
” It was, however, remarkable that none of these centres has any candidates waiting to be registered, indicating that almost all candidates who desire to register for the exercise have done so,” he said.
Benjamin also said that the same thing happened in many centres in Nasarawa State. He said that a few candidates were seen at all of the centres a day before the deadline, but they were all gone before the end of the work day.
He said everything points to this year’s exercise being the smoothest one the board has ever done.
