The National leadership of the All Progressive Grand Alliance says it is unaware of the petition sent to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, by the Abia state chairman of the party, Reverend Austin Ehiemere.

Ehiemere was said to have alleged of financial misappropriation against the Deputy National Chairman of APGA, Engr. Uchenna Okogbuo during the 2015 general election in the state.

But the party has faulted the action of the Abia chairman, describing it as attempt to bring APGA into disrepute.

The party said this in a letter signed by the National chairman, Chief Ike Oye and addressed to the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu which was made available to newsmen on Wednesday.

APGA expressed worry at the action of the petitioners who according to the party, did not exhaust all available mechanism for internal crisis resolution as stipulated by the party’s constitution before proceeding to petition the commission.

The letter reads, “Our attention has been drawn to a case pending before your commission involving our Deputy National chairman, Chief Uchenna Okogbuo.

“The case in question has brought our great party into disrepute particularly because the petitioners did not exhaust all available mechanisms for internal crisis resolution as contained in our constitution 2014(as amended) before proceeding to file the action.

“The election for which the said Chief Okogbuo is being interrogated by your commission, was successfully organized and profesaionally executed to the elation of all of us.

“We find it worrisome that some persons could bring such an action to your commission without the knowledge of the leadership of our party- something will view seriously.

“It will be greatly appreciated if you can call off further investigation of the matter and allow our party to handle and settle it amicably.

“We count on your immediate intervention, while requesting you to please accept the assurances of our highest consideration.‎”
