UCL: Neymar to miss both legs of Man Utd, PSG matches

Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday confirmed that forward, Neymar will miss PSG’s both first and second legs Champions League round of 16 ties with Manchester United on February 12 and March 6 due to injury.

Neymar picked up the knock during last week Wednesday’s Coupe de France win over Strasbourg and was taken off in the second half.

The Brazilian international will be out of action for the next ten weeks.

“On Tuesday evening Paris Saint-Germain gathered together a group of world-renowned medical experts at the Ooredoo Training Centre to carry out a thorough review of the injury to Neymar Jr.’s right foot, sustained against RC Strasbourg in the Coupe de France round of 16 match on 23 January,” a statement on PSG’s official website read.

“After detailed analysis by the specialists, a consensus was reached over a conservative treatment of Neymar Jr.’s injury to the fifth right metatarsal.

“Informed of this recommendation, Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian international striker agreed with this protocol. As a result, Neymar Jr. is expected to return to the field within ten weeks.”
