Two soldiers killed as Nigerian troops battle terrorists in Zamfara

Two soldiers and several armed bandits have been confirmed dead in a gun battle that ensued between troops and terrorists in Bawar Daji village, Anka local government area of Zamfara state.

The council chairman of the LG, Alhaji Mustapha Gado, who confirmed the clash to newsmen on Wednesday, said the troops deployed to the village engaged the armed bandits in a fierce fire exchange, thus resulting to the death of two soldiers, including a captain.

Alhaji Mustapha Gado said the corpses of the soldiers were brought to Anka town and then moved to Gusau the state capital adding that the fight continued.

“The commander of the troops was in Anka today from the Bawar Daji village, he came for reinforcement and a good number of military vehicles moved in to the battle field to reinforce those already there,” he said.

He said he could not tell about the casualties from the armed bandits side until full detail on the ongoing operations is fully obtained adding that prayer is being held for the success of the troops.
