Transfer: Real Madrid midfielder to undergo Chelsea medicals today

Real Madrid midfielder, Mateo Kovacic, is scheduled to have his medical at Chelsea today ahead of a season-long loan move, Sky Sports reports.

The LaLiga giants have offered Kovacic on loan plus £35million, as part of a swap deal for goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Courtois is expected to arrive at Real Madrid on Thursday, ahead of completing a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Croatian midfielder has met with new manager, Julen Lopetegui, and expressed his desire to quit the Santiago Bernabeu.

It is understood that Lopetegui tried to convince Kovacic to remain at the club, but the 24-year-old’s mind is made up, as he is seeking regular football elsewhere.

The likes of Bayern Munich, Juventus and Liverpool have also been linked with Kovacic.
