Transfer news: What Olivier Giroud said after completing Chelsea move

[ad_1]

Chelsea have confirmed the £20million signing of Olivier Giroud from Arsenal.

The France international becomes the first Arsenal player since Ashley Cole to swap the Gunners for Chelsea.

Upon signing for the Premier League champions, Giroud said, “Chelsea is one of the biggest teams in the Premier League.

“They have won maybe the most trophies in the last six or seven years.

“It’s a massive club and I am proud to sign for Chelsea, and I’m looking forward to playing.”

Giroud rejected a move to Dortmund in favour of remaining in London and will hope the switch will boost his chances of making France’s World Cup squad.

The 31-year-old’s arrival marks a departure from Chelsea’s long-standing policy on players over 30‎.
