The Taraba state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has raised the alarm over an alleged plan to upturn Saturday’s governorship election in favour of the opposition political party in the state.

The leadership of the party, which raised the alarm on Monday, in Jalingo through its spokesperson, Andeta’rang Irammae, said the party has uncovered the mapped out plans to deny the PDP victory.

Lamenting the ongoing delay in making public the winner of the governorship election, by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, the party beckoned at the international observers as well as the international community to as a matter of urgency wade in.

Irammae, who stated this during an interactive session with newsmen, said the party will not go to bed with its two eyes closed pending when the leadership of INEC insert the right peg in the right hole.

The INEC State Collation/Returning Officer and Resident Electoral Commission (REC), according to him, “have no reason to delay the announcement of Col. Agbu Kefas as the winner of the governorship election after polling 255,317 votes.”

Stressing that any attempt to tamper with the result will be resisted.

Adding that “INEC State Returning Officer should announce the result as collated and any party not satisfied with it should go to the Election Petition Tribunal and challenge the result as the INEC National Chairman, Yakubu Mahmood did during the collation of Presidential Election on February 25.”
