Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, representing Kaduna North Senatorial district has reacted to the demolition of his property by Kaduna state government in the early hours of Tuesday morning, stating that he has forgiven the governor.

Briefing Senate press corps in Abuja, the lawmaker described the action as hate taken too far over political disagreement in the state. He vowed not to be dissuaded from his commitment to the people of Kaduna state.

Recalling that the same property was used for El-Rufai’s campaign office and the state APC headquarters, he lamented that over 40,000 commoners have lost their means of livelihood as a result of the demolition.

“I have no case against El-Rufai for bringing down my property at 4.30am this morning.”

Hunkuyi wondered what would have happened, if it were a military era, saying the likes of Nasir El-Rufai were incompatible with democratic norms.

“If such things could happen, what will the military be doing?”

“Instead of bringing down my morale, it would rather embolden me to stand by the majority. Today, as am standing here, let that be an incidence that it is a sacrifice of democracy in my state,” he added

“I should bear the consequences of making democracy strong in my State. I was at the receiving end today. Over 40,000 lives have lost their means of livelihood just because we disagree with El-Rufai.”

“The deputy Chairman of the party in Kaduna has also lost his property to demolition because of disagreement with the governor.”

“People of that nature has no business in Nigeria polity because whether you agree or not, there will always be diasgreement”

“That same office was used as Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s campaign for his governorship and I know he remember that very well.”

He also reminded the governor of his residential house where he had been fed and slept severally in Kaduna and Zaria during the 2015 elections, saying he could move bulldozers there for demolition.
