A Federal High Court in Kano State on Wednesday granted bail to Nuriani Adamu, son of former governor of Nasarawa state, Abdullahi Adamu.

The governor’s son was arraigned alongside one Felix Onyago over alleged N32 million money laundering.

The counsel to the prosecution, Douglas Gift, told the court presided over by Justide Daggard that the defendants allegedly conspired to commit the offence in 2014.

Gift said that in the same year, Adamu allegedly transferred N32 million on several occasions to Onyago’s bank account in Kano. He said that the offence violated Section 18(a) and 15, 2 (b) of money laundering prohibition act.

Both suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The presiding judge Daggard, in ruling for their bail application ordered that the defendants must produce two sureties each. He added that one of the sureties must be resident in Kano.

“The second surety must be a blood relative of the defendants and the blood relative must have a landed property.

“Documents of the property must also be deposited with the court,” Daggard said

The case was then adjourned till March 28 for hearing.
