Sokoto INEC Prepares for Supplementary Elections with Sensitive Materials Distribution and Strategic Meeting

On Friday morning, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Sokoto State began distributing sensitive materials for the upcoming supplementary elections across the state. Major General Modibo Alkali (retd.), the National Commissioner overseeing the election in the state, and acting Resident Electoral Commissioner Hauwa Kangiwa were also seen attending a private strategic meeting with the returning officers of 13 federal legislative seats.

The results of the three Senatorial districts and 10 House of Representatives were declared inconclusive during the February 25th Presidential and National Assembly elections. The material distribution event, held at the state headquarters of the commission, was attended by various party officials, election observers, and media personnel.

Party leader Abubakar Adamu praised INEC officials, particularly Major General Modibo Alkali (retd.), for restoring confidence in the system. However, some local INEC staff expressed dissatisfaction with their non-involvement in the election process, as INEC from Abuja had deployed staff from across the country to conduct the election in the state.

The supplementary elections are scheduled to take place in the three Senatorial districts and 10 House of Representatives, out of the 11 Federal Constituencies in the state.
