Senate Tuesday condemned the tragic clashes between Kadara and Hausa youths at Kasuwan Magani area of Kajuru local council area of Kaduna State.

The mayhem which claimed about seven lives also recorded the wanton destruction of many houses and other valuable property worth millions of naira.

Following order 43, senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna central formally brought the tragic incident to the attention of the upper chamber.

In his explanation, Sani said the lethal violence which later degenerated into religious bias was occasioned by some lawless youths of the area.

The lawmaker said the bourgeoning rate of clashes in the society has suddenly misrepresented the normal way of life where human life, peace and order used to be sacrosanct.

He further affirmed that the unity of the country was not simply about the mere hoisting of a national flag captured with a coat of arms.

In his reaction, the presiding Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu warned that religious intolerance was capable of liquidating the country and urged both muslim and christian faithfuls in the country to eschew violence and, co-exist mutually.
