Ntufam Mba Ukweni, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) has condemned the action of hoodlums that invaded the Senate and carted away its mace.

Speaking to DAILY POST on Wednesday, Ukweni lamented that it was wrong for anybody to invade the House to snatch the mace.

“The House cannot sit properly without the mace and if any person is on suspension, he should remain suspended, Senate is the highest law making body in the country.”

The SAN said that without the mace, the House cannot sit, saying “ if you want to frustrate the business of the Senate, you take away the mace”

He said the action of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was lawless. “The action of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is lawless, rowdy, if you are suspended, you remained suspended.

“The country cannot be crumbled because you have been suspended. The country cannot standstill because someone has been suspended. He is not the first Senator that has been suspended,” he stated.

He called on the security agencies to investigate the matter, recover the mace and bring the culprits to book.
