Rivers APC: Saraki, Wike, Buhari’s aide graces Abe’s event, Amaechi attends another rally

The crack in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state is widening.

Another indication of this was yesterday’s parallel rallies in two different parts of the state organized by party leaders.

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi led some chieftains to the inauguration of a pro-APC non-governmental organisation, Free Rivers Development Initiative in Bori, Khana local government area while Senator Representing Rivers South-East, Senator Magnus Abe hosted other leaders of the party to a Thanksgiving rally in Port Harcourt.

DAILY POST gathered that the some leaders of the APC in the South-South and Rivers state including Senator Andrew Uchendu, Director-General of NIMASA, Dakuku Peterside, Sekonte Davies and others graced Amaechi’s event.

But on the other hand, Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike, Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, SSA to President Mohammadu Buhari on National Assembly (Senate), Ita Enang, Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan, Chairman of the APC in Rivers state, Chief Davies Ibiamu-Ikanya among others, graced Senator Abe’s Thanksgiving Service.

Speaking at the rally, Senator Bukola Saraki said, “It is obvious the APC is in crisis in Rivers state. What is bad is bad and we must put this to an end.”

The Senate President stressed the need for members of the party to be more united.

On his part, Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike commended Abe for inviting him to the rally.

He said despite political differences, all representatives of the state holding any public office should, “Put Rivers state first. We should not allow some people to divide us.”

Also speaking, Member representing Ikwerre-Emohua Federal Constituency, Chidi Wehioka called for the suspension of Amaechi by the APC.

According to Wehioka, “The party Chairman is here. All other party leaders are here but some people are holding another rally somewhere. It is not meant to be so.

“Any APC leader who is supposed to be here and he’s not here an he’s somewhere else where another rally is going on is already doing anti-party activity an he must be suspended.

“How can one man always play god. It is not possible. What we want is for Governorship seat to rotate and Senator Magnus Abe has what it takes to lead this state.”

Meanwhile, at the other end of the rally in Khana, Minister of transportation and former Rivers Governor, Rotimi Amaechi said he could have been killed during the fight to install President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said Saro Wiwa fought for the liberation of Ogoni people, South-South and the Niger Delta because he believed they were oppressed.

“Saro-Wiwa was killed by the then machinery of power because of his belief that Ogonis and the Niger Delta should be liberated,” he said.

“I could have been killed by same machinery of power when we were fighting to install President Muhammadu Buhari because we fought the same power that killed Saro-Wiwa.”

According to Amaechi, some Ogoni sons and daughters find it difficult to identify with the late environmentalist but he identified with him.

“Everybody is now claiming to love Ogoni and knew Ken Saro-Wiwa because of election,” he said.

“If you love Ogoni, bring projects to Ogoni, train their children because as governor, I trained Ogoni children overseas.
