Rivers APC Congress: No materials to hijack – Amaechi dispels reports

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has described reports that the planned All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State has been compromised as mischievous and laughable.

Amaechi was responding to claims that materials meant for the congresses had been hijacked with the view of compromising the process.

He further stated that what was sent to the state party Secretariat were forms meant for interested candidates participating to purchase.

He said there were no materials to be used for the congress as the party had opted for option A-4; “When people said Amaechi has taken their materials, I laugh. Which materials. We did not come back with any material. What we have are forms which are out there for sale.

“We told interested candidates to go to the bank, pay some amount of money and use their tellers to pick their forms.

“In Rivers state, we are not using materials. We adopted option A-4 where people will queue behind their candidates and the National Officials of the party are around to make sure we are doing the right thing.”

Amaechi encouraged party faithful to turn up and vote for their preferred candidates during the Ward congress which he said would be done in the most transparent manner, because APC is a party that believes in democratic tenets.
