1. Fire has gutted the faculty of Humanities annex at the Imo State University.
The fire was said to have raised down the entire faculty.
2. The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, on Thursday confirmed that successful applicants from its 2018 recruitment exercise have been selected.
Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, stated that the process was transparent.
3. The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed that one person died at an early hour train derailment on Thursday.
The incident occurred at Ashade railway crossing Agege, Lagos.
4. Alhaji Isa Mustapha Agwai I, the Emir of Lafia and Chairman Nasarawa State traditional council of chiefs is dead.
The Emir died at the age of 84 on Thursday, according Alhaji Sule Abubakar, the “Ajiyan-Lafia”.
5. The Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, Idris Muse-Ariyoh, on Thursday debunked news on social media that there was crisis in Oshodi.
Muse-Ariyoh described as “fake news” the rumour that MC Oluomo is dead.
6. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has vowed that the ongoing strike would not be called off until the Federal Government fulfils all the agreement both parties reached in their last meeting.
ASUU said it was tired of Federal Government’s antics of making unfulfilled promises.
7. Former Osun Deputy Governor, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has declared that he has joined the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Omisore spoke briefly at the Ooni’s palace, where he said the coalition between SDP and APC was enough to “show where I stand.”
8. Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe has told the Court of Appeal in Abuja that his standing surety for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, is illegal.
Abaribe, in an amended seven grounds notice of appeal filed by his lawyer, Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume (SAN), urged the appellate court to relieve him of the role of surety for Kanu.
9. The former Attorney-General of Cross River State and deputy governorship candidate of the Labor Party in the 2015 general elections, Mrs. Nella Andem Rabana, on Wednesday defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
Mrs. Rabana, who pledged to work for the re-election of Governor Ben Ayade, said her reason for returning to the PDP was that she had always been an advocate of the interest of her constituents and having seen the performance of the Governor, it was only fitting that she returned and support his re-election bid.
10. American political risk consultancy firm, Eurasia Group, has said that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will enrich himself and his cronies if he wins the presidential elections.
The group, however, said Atiku, because of “his better health and keener intellect” compared to President Muhammadu Buhari, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, “would create a brief, superficial boost to the country’s image.”
