President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja after an eight-day official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during which he performed the Umrah (Lesser Hajj). Departing from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on Wednesday, the president was seen off by Saudi government officials, Nigerian traditional and spiritual leaders, and senior staff from the Nigerian Embassy in the Kingdom.
While in Saudi Arabia, Buhari successfully performed the Umrah rituals and visited historic religious sites in Madinah before proceeding to Makkah. The president also received updates on domestic developments from Nigerian government officials, including the governors of Borno and Yobe states. In Makkah, Buhari hosted traditional and religious leaders to an Iftar dinner (breaking of fast), where they discussed the importance of unity in achieving the country’s goals.
During his visit, President Buhari also met with elder statesman and philanthropist Alhaji Aminu Dantata, expressing condolences for the recent loss of his wife, Hajiya Rabi Dantata.
