President Muhammadu Buhari has declined assent to Police Fund bill, Chartered Institute of Management and Nigeria Council of Social works bills.

A letter addressed to the Senate President and which was read by the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over Tuesday’s plenary stated that those bills were ambiguous, hence, their assents would be withheld.

Buhari futher explained that Police Fund bills has failed to stipulate sources of funds it intends to use in funding the Police equipment, adding that the proposed funds in the said bill belong to 37 states of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory and the 774 Local Government Areas of the country.

He said assenting to the bill would conflict the provisions of the 1999 constitution as amended.

“The proposed funds to be used belongs to the 36 States of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory and 774 Local Government Areas”, the President said.
