Premier League: Mourinho speaks on teams that can win title

[ad_1]

Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho has hinted that his side will not be a contender for the Premier League title this season.

The Portuguese, who addressed a press conference on Thursday ahead of United clash with Leicester City in the Premier League opening game on Friday, gave a cryptic answer when asked whether his Manchester United team can challenge for the title this season.

The former FC Porto manager had earlier predicted a “difficult” campaign if the club failed to sign the players he wanted.

He had said that Liverpool and Manchester City were favourites, adding that the Reds were “buying everything, everybody.

The transfer window ended in the England topflight yesterday without further signings for Mourinho from United board.

Asked if he has the squad to go head-to-head with Manchester City for the title, Mourinho suggested that the first three months of the season would prove whether his warning to the United board was right or wrong.

“By the end of November or December, you don’t need words, you’ll see by then which teams are candidates to win the Premier League,” the Portuguese was quoted by Metro UK as disclosing this yesterday.

“At the moment words are not important. Let’s play football and see by the end of November or December. You’ll see which teams are candidates,” he said.
