Officers of the Nigeria police will all smile to their various banks at the end of March, as the agency saddled with the responsibility of salary payment for all Federal Government employees, Integrated Payroll Personnel Information System(IPPIS) is set to effect outstanding arrears on promotion and annual step increment by end of March.

The Resident Consultant of the agency, Mr Yemisi Oladeji made this known in a statement sent to DAILY POST on Monday.

According to the statement, thorough payroll process, through original data capturing has revealed outstanding arrears on promotion and annual step increment.

It noted that all the arrears for promotion in the past years, including the annual step increment would be paid to affected officers without delay.

“The payroll was processed with the original data captured, and some of the officers have been promoted and almost all of them are due for at least one step annual increment of which all will be effected this month with arrears.”

On the recent uproar about reductions of salaries of ranks and file, officers and civilian staff of the Nigeria police, Oladeji said there was a new tax regime introduced by the Federal Government.

He said the old tax was reviewed upward, which is responsible for the jack up in the deducted tax on salaries.

DAILY POST recalls that officers and civilian staff of the force had recently decried an “abnormal” deductions in their salaries for the month of February, which ranged from N10,000 to N30,000.
