Ahead of the Plateau United FC of Jos second knockout fixture against Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia,
the General Manager of the Club, Pius Henwan, on Sunday said his team’s target is to win the coveted Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League trophy.

Henwan disclosed this in a statement by the club’s Media Officer, Albert Dakup.

“Our desire is to do the nation proud in a competition where only Enyimba of Aba won the trophy back to back 15 years ago.

“Nobody gave us a chance when we won the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), it is the same kind of spirit and belief we are taking into the next hurdle facing Etoile du Sahel.

“We are not bothered about the pedigree of the Tunisian’s side having won the competition in the past.

“I have absolute confidence in the ability of the team to deliver the goods by qualifying to the group stage which is the immediate target,” he said.

Henwan, who is one of the youngest general managers in the top flight side, said his players were adequately motivated to deliver on the continental showpiece.

According to him, the management is taking the welfare of the team seriously as a way of encouraging them to put in their best.

He appealed to Nigerians to continue to support the team that defied all odds to dump Cameroonian’s side, Eding Sports 4-0 on aggregate to book a date with the Tunisian side.

Plateau United will face former CAF champions, Etoile du Sahel on Tuesday in Sousse.
