There is no harm, of whatever sort and calibre, for a one man to dominate the political sphere of a nation. The harm manifests and is vividly noticed when one “bad” man owns the dominion.
To many of us down here, Tinubu is a good man and not a bad man. To many of us down here, whether we like and admit it or not, Tinubu is a political strategist, a mentor, a political scientist, a practical care giver and life engine of Nigerian political landscape. History will remember him as a political gladiator who champions the cause of Lagos and does everything possible to bring Lagos and Lagosians to the lime light of political achievements. He is a leader of APC narcissistic politics. A force to be reckoned with in Lagos, South West and now Nigeria.
Ethnically speaking, many Northerners hate Tinubu’s ethnic chauvinism especially when it related (in the past) to the now-killed-and-pacified (Alhamdulillah) ethnic tensions between Hausas and Yorubas. We thank Allah that it never happens these days and it will never happen in the future, by God’s grace. It was reported that he sided with the Yorubas then and the Hausas suffered. Such segregation and social ills suffered by the Hausas under Tinubu’s leadership as governor of Lagos were widely reported, specificilly in the Friday sermons and lectures delivered by the reputable Islamic scholars in the North, such as the late Sheikh Ja’far, then. Whether that assertion was correct or misconstrued, a leader should side with his people only if and when they side with the truth, not on every myopic and catastrophic hand work of ‘his’ own. But now, Tinubu has no specific “his-own” as all will be his own if he truly is a national leader. He should or must embrace and mentor all. Now that we or he hopes for Nigeria, we hope all Nigerians will be ‘his’ own.
TINUBU & ABBA GIDA-GIDA’s ELECTION ROBBERY
We are still pained. And we don’t easily forget. Some things are never forgotten. Some things are deeper in the heart than an open wound of sword’s cut. We will never forget what happened in Kano during the fictitious, dubious and inconclusive fraud and robbery, called re-run. And don’t ever assume we will forget, not to even think of forgiveness. If you can bundle what happened more than 20 years ago (June 12), under military rule, to these democratic days, I dont see how we cannot carry what happened in Kano on the sad 23rd of May to the the day of judgement. Yours happened under military, but this robbery happened under what is called democracy. And, as APC strategist, you are behind it.
I am happy to tell you that APCs political discussion among has for long shifted away from Buhari to actual forces who govern. It is either Tinubu or the cabals. And Tinubu weighs equal to the cabals. He is even the cabals on his own. We saw that in what transpired politically these days, from the election to selection to the NASS to Senate and even in Kano gubernatorial elections. Therefore, don’t ask why we didnt talk about the old man of integrity who never habors corruption. It is only the corruption that tails and pursues him whereever he goes! To us, Buhari and his 2019 ambition are Past Perfect Tense. We wish him all the best.
What we lack in the North is what they amply possess in the South and vice versa and we shouldn’t in our right senses envy them of that. Instead we should copy from them, especially when they help us to do that and not denying us to enjoy what they are enjoying. They enjoy the political shelter of Tinubu why not allow us enjoy such a shelter under other progressives, since Tinubu mentors many down there but nobody over here. We have others here, why should Tinubu delve and deny us ours just because of his ambition? For Tinubu to have it, he has to also like what we like!
If in the South, firm political loyalty is established in this political dispensation, courtesy of Tinubu’s socio-political shrewdness and dodgedness, then why not in the North? Why should Kano people be deprived of their collective choice just because Tinubu feels threatened by Kwankwanso? Why would they not bow down to Kwankwaso and reconcile for their (Kwankwaso, Tinubu and Co) own “capitalistic” development, but chose to deprive 20 million people their tiny right of enjoyment, instead of politically reconciling with one good man! This is a very bad idea. There is no democracy in this.
Like Tinubu like Kwankwaso politically over here. They are “mates” politically. It is only that they play it differently from different regions. We revere Kwankwaso, we respect him and we love him for the clear kind-heart he has for our development. He did to Kano more than what Tinubu did to Lagos. He is respected throughout the North. If you people fear his ambition, sit him down and sort it out. Let him know that only one man can make it, and the artificial concocted zoning arrangement doesn’t favour him (Kwankwaso) at all. He was part of the arrangement and he will easily understand it. But choosing a weak leader over him will be disastrous to your political design.
I dont have anything to loose if Tinubu makes it to the Villa but I have everything to loose when Tinubu disrespects our kind political mentors and assume it is alright for him. This game is reciprocal especially now that development is in sight. Tinubu should start respecting our politians right now, so that we can trust him. If not now, when? Someone should now your value before he becomes what he wants to become, after becoming he may not like consider and know your worth forever!
Buhari has done all it takes to woo you to his side reciprocally the way you did to him, but it will not be Buhari at the eve of 2023. Yes, he may possess the power but politicians are never reliable. If they found a better go somewhere they will all desert him for a greener posture. The massive decamping we witnessed is not a one-time happening, it is continuous and contagious as long as there is
politics.
Therefore, many of us now see Buhari as Tinubu’s rubber stamp and there is no harm in that if good is done. It will only be bad and disastrous when you disallow the little give away freedom you give to people and decide to have it all for yourself because of greed. In a desperate and evil effort to have it all, people, most often, lose it all.
I hope you will engineer fruitful political discourse and supply practical dividends to all, the way you do to your own, since now you want to belong to all of us.
Best wishes
