Omokri faults Yakubu Gowon’s call for peace in Nigeria

Reno Omokri, former aide to Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to a statement credited to former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, which called for peace in Nigeria.
Gowon, who made call on Saturday during a two-day National Prayer Rally organised under the aegis of Nigeria Prays, at the Government House, Maiduguri, urged Nigerians to shun violence and embrace peace.
He stated that such prayers were imperative to promote unity and harmonious coexistence as well as address the nagging social and economic problems bedeviling the country.

Omokri, in his reaction, urged the retired general to call for justice instead of peace.

On his Twitter page, he wrote: “I respect General Gowon, but he should stop calling for peace and unity in Nigeria in isolation of justice. Without justice, there can’t be peace and unity.

“Never! Gowon calling for peace and unity without justice is like calling for a woman to give birth when she’s not pregnant!”
