The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in Lagos State has confirmed the death of a corps member, Nneka Odili, who was crushed to death by a train along the Ikeja axis rail line.

DAILY POST recalls that efforts to drag the corps member back when an oncoming train was approaching proved abortive as she was busy pressing her phone.

The NYSC, Lagos State coordinator, Prince Mohammed Momoh, who confirmed the incident, said the corps member died while receiving treatment at the intensive care unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

The official while commiserating with the family of the deceased commended the kind gesture of Mojeed Alabi Balogun, the Ikeja Local Government Council chairman that joined NYSC to foot the initial bills.

He said, “We lost the corps member just now. I heard the neurosurgeon and the orthopaedic doctors said they would conduct further investigations on her. But regrettably we lost her.”
