Nigerian Army speaks on Adeosun replacing Buratai as new Chief of Staff

The Nigerian Army has denied the reported appointment of Major General Lamidi Adeosun as the new Chief of Army Staff.

Reports emerged on Tuesday afternoon that President Muhammadu Buhari has replaced Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai with Adeosun.

However, speaking with DAILY POST on the matter, the Army Acting Public Relations Officer, Sagir Musa, described the report flying around social media as false.

He said that Major Adeosun was only promoted to the rank Lieutenant General.

Asked about the rumour, Musa said, “Na lie. I tell you, na lie.

“He was just promoted to Lieutenant General. He was promoted because of his exemplary feat in the North East counter insurgency operation and other leadership effects.”
