Neymar Jr, Brazil and Paris St Germain forward, has had a successful operation on his injured foot and ankle.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said this in a statement on Saturday.

The world’s most expensive footballer was operated on in Belo Horizonte by the Brazil national team doctor.

The medical expert fixed the fractured metatarsal and sprained ankle he suffere in last weekend’s French Ligue 1 match against Olympique de Marseille.

“He will be re-evaluated in around six weeks in order to specify a possible date when he can return to training,” CBF said.

Not only will he miss next week’s game against Real Madrid, his participation in this season’s Champions League would be over unless the Ligue 1 giants reach the final in Kiev.

Neymar will also have to sit out Brazil’s friendlies against Russia and Germany.

However, the 26-year-old is expected to recover in time for the World Cup in Russia.
