Medical doctors attack other health workers, say JOHESU illegal

[ad_1]

The crisis in the nation’s health sector took a new turn on Tuesday as doctors, under the auspices of the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, declared that they will not join a proposed strike by other workers in the health sector.

This was as the doctors described the Joint Health Staff Union, JOHESU, as an illegal body.

JOHESU, which includes all health workers except doctors and dentists, announced on Monday that it will commence an indefinite strike later tonight.

But in a press conference on Tuesday, the NMA president, Mike Ogirima, warned the federal government against assenting to the demands by JOHESU.

He said doctors will not join the strike and that the industrial action was targeted at medical doctors.
