A Brazilian derby was stopped after football players received 10 red cards and 8 yellows.

The match was between Vitoria and Bahia in the Bahia state championship.

After a tensed first half which saw six bookings and Denilson’s goal for the hosts, things really got out of hand after the break.

In the 50th minute, Bahia were awarded a penalty after which a massive brawl broke out as the footballers celebrated the goal.

After a 16-minute delay in an attempt to restore order, the referee gave out eight red cards to players from both teams.

The match continued, but when Vitoria had two further players dismissed 11 minutes from time, it was abandoned, with Bahia awarded a 3-0 victory.
