Manchester United vs Liverpool: Rashford’s brace sinks Red in battle for second place

[ad_1]

Marcus Rashford scored twice in 10 minutes of the first-half, as Manchester United defeated Liverpool 2-1 in Saturday’s early kick-off.

The England striker started what was dubbed the ‘Battle for Second Place’ because of injury to Anthony Martial. Jose Mourinho was also without Paul Pogba, who failed a late fitness test in the morning.

United started strongly in the game and took a two-goal lead into the break, thanks to two fine finishes from Rashford.

Eric Bailly struck the ball past his own goalkeeper, to give Liverpool a glimmer of hope.

However, the Red Devils held on to seal a memorable victory over their North West rivals and open a five-point gap between them.
