Manchester United vs Derby County: Team news, injuries, possible lineups

Manchester United will Tuesday take on Derby County in the Carabao Cup third round clash at Old Trafford.

United head into the game following a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend in the Premier League.

The Red Devils boss, Jose Mourinho has already confirmed that he intends to hand summer signing, Diogo Dalot, his second start for United at right-back, a week after his promising debut in the win over Young Boys.

Ashley Young has not featured on the opposite flank since the win at Watford, but may be restored in the position to give Luke Shaw a breather, while Sergio Romero is in line for his first appearance of the season in goal.

With Marcus Rashford sitting out the final match of his three-game ban, and Romelu Lukaku likely to be rested, Mourinho may use out-of-form forward, Alexis Sanchez and out-of-favour, Anthony Martial in his attack.

Ander Herrera and Marcos Rojo are struggling with injury problems, while Nemanja Matic returns from suspension and could play against County.

On the other hand, Derby County head into the game following a 3-1 victory over Brentford in the Championship fixture on Saturday.

Tuesday’s clash will be the 107th meeting between the two clubs, with United winning 46 of the previous encounters, losing 31 and drawing 30.

Derby coach, Frank Lampard must decide whether to start forwards, David Nugent or Jack Marriott in his attack line.

Midfielder, George Evans and defender, Curtis Davies are fitness doubts, while utility player, Ikechi Anya has not featured for County since May because of a long-term injury.

Manchester United’s potential starting XI: Romero; Young, Lindelof, Smalling, Dalot; Pereira, Matic, McTominay; Sanchez, Martial, Mata.

Derby County’s potential starting XI: Carson; Bogle, Keogh, Tomori, Malone; Johnson, Ledley, Mount; Jozefzoon, Marriott, Bennett.

The kick-off time for the game is 8pm.
