London trip: Nigerians raise suspicion over Buhari’s health

Nigerians are suspicious of President Muhammadu Buhari’s latest trip to the United Kingdom, with many fearing that his health issues may have arisen again.

Buhari is scheduled to fly out of Nigeria on Monday, for an official visit to the UK, where he is expected to hold discussions on Nigeria–British relations with Prime Minister Theresa May, prior to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings (CHOGM) scheduled for April 18-20, 2018.

He will also meet with the Chief Executive Officer of Royal Dutch Plc, Ben van Beurden, in connection with Shell and other partners’ plan to invest $15b in Nigeria’s oil industry.

However, the timing of Buhari’s trip, which is 10 days before the CHOGM, has raised suspicions among Nigerians.

Here are some reactions to the President’s trip gathered by DAILY POST from Twitter:

@MrTohNey: Why is he leaving 10days before the meeting, is @MBuhari going by bus to Britain?

@paskael: He’s going for medical check up. After which he will visit Theresa May. Simple. Garuba easy o

@RevdSamuelJoshu: Why cant you for once say that the President is going for medical?

@jonaheye: You always tell us when @MBuhari will leave the country and the meetings he’ll hold bla bla bla… When is the President @MBuhari coming back? We want to know.

@okekepolice: Garba just tell us Buhari is going to UK to see his doctors, you will not die, Haba!

@Uber1235: Just say he is going for medical check-up; 9th to 20th for State visit?
