LaLiga: Former Real Madrid president, Valdano says Bale not worth €100million

Former Real Madrid president, Jorge Valdano, has questioned Gareth Bale’s value to Real Madrid after their 1-1 draw with rivals, Atletico Madrid.

Real were held to a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu on Sunday night, after Antoine Griezmann cancelled out Cristiano Ronaldo’s 53rd-minute opener.

Bale provided the assist for Ronaldo’s 40th goal of the season, but was not spared from Valdano’s hot tongue.

“Nothing that Bale does is worth €100million and he has only the number he plays with on his shirt,” Valdano told El Transistor.

After making a blistering start to life in Spain following his move from Tottenham, the Wales international has suffered from persistent calf injuries.

Bale has been linked with a summer exit, with Manchester United and Spurs interested in the winger.
