The faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, backed by former governor of Kano, Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Saturday held parallel ward congresses in all the 440 wards in the state.

The chairman loyal to the Senator, Umar Doguwa, told Daily Nigerian that the congresses went “smoothly without any hitch”.

He said their congresses were monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, officials and party officials sent from the national headquarters of APC.

“Our congresses went on smoothly without any hitch in all the wards across the state.

“INEC officials and party officials have monitored the conduct of our congresses, and we will forward the results to the party headquarters in Abuja.

“It was a huge success as the will of the people was allowed to manifest in the exercise.

“In the spirit of open participation in democratic process without imposition or anointing of candidates, our congress, which is the genuine, legitimate and lawful, held without any protest or problem,” Doguwa added.

However, the Bashir Karaye-led faction, backed by the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, also conducted its congresses across the state.
