Kano Speaker reveals what he’ll do if impeached by Assembly members

The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Alhaji Yusuf Abdullahi Atta has revealed that if the move to impeach him sails through, he will accept it in good faith in view of his background as a Muslim who believes in destiny.

There were earlier reports that members of Kano State House of Assembly were set to impeach the Speaker of the house with 21 lawmakers as at Sunday night signing in support of the Speaker’s impeachment.

But speaking with newsmen on Monday, Atta pointed out that the attempt by some members of the house to impeach him has nothing to do with competency.

According to him, “In anything there is starting and ending point. If Allah has designed it that my time is off, nobody will extend it by a second and if it is not time, nobody can remove me from office that’s my belief.

“My happiness is that I did not steal anybody’s money. So, if today, they remove me from office, I will leave but nobody will accuse me of stealing. I have a constituency that I am representing.”

Atta was elected as speaker of Kano State House of Assembly following the resignation of Kabiru Rurum who was accused of corruption.
