Abdulmumin Jibrin, a rep-elect of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has declared that aggrieved former members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who joined the NNPP have taught Kano Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje a significant political lesson.
Jibrin shared his thoughts during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, noting that the NNPP’s victory over the ruling APC in the March 18 governorship election in Kano State was a direct result of Ganduje’s actions.
According to Jibrin, Governor Ganduje pushed many members out of the APC, leading them to regroup and join the NNPP, ultimately ensuring that the APC lost 18 House of Representatives members and 34 State Assembly members. Jibrin emphasized that the losses were due to a vote against Ganduje, rather than a reflection of the lawmakers’ capabilities.
Following the Kano governorship election results, it is evident that the political landscape in the state has shifted, with the NNPP emerging as a formidable force. The situation presents an opportunity for both the APC and the NNPP to reflect on the circumstances that led to this outcome and strategize for future elections.
