Kaduna State’s Governor, Uba Sani, has declared his intention to continue utilizing vehicles used by his predecessor, stating that purchasing new ones would be an unnecessary expenditure.
During a meeting with the heads of the state’s parastatals, Governor Sani underscored the wastefulness of replacing vehicles in the Governor’s convoy that are still in good condition. He stated, “Replacing the vehicles in the Governor’s convoy, when they are perfectly functional, amounts to squandering public resources.”
Journalists were informed that the Governor stressed that his primary concerns are the security and welfare of the citizens of Kaduna State, and not his personal comfort.
Governor Sani went on to say, “Contrary to practices in some states, all the vehicles in Kaduna’s Governor’s convoy are in perfect shape and I’m using them. There’s no need to expend public funds on new cars.”
The Governor reiterated his campaign promise and his oath of office commitment taken on May 29th to focus on the security and welfare of Kaduna’s citizens. He vowed to channel the state’s resources towards ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the people, rather than on unessential expenditures such as replacing undamaged vehicles.
Governor Sani further revealed that his government would concentrate on rural development to discourage rural-urban migration, which strains facilities in urban areas.
“He said his administration has strategies to deliver standard education and primary healthcare, in addition to security in rural areas. This, he believes, will encourage farmers to stay and focus on agriculture, which forms the backbone of Kaduna and Nigeria’s economy,” journalists were told.
The report painted Governor Uba Sani as a leader more passionate about the development of Kaduna State and the welfare of its inhabitants than indulging in a lavish lifestyle as the State Chief Executive.
