INEC fixes February 10 for Dutse/Mashi re-run election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed February 10 for the conduct of Mashi/Dutsi House of Representative Re-run election In Katsina.

The state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner for Katsina, Alhaji Jibril Zarewa who disclosed this at a press conference said: “the re- run election will take place on the 10th of February, 2018 in fifteen polling units as directed by the election tribunal that nullified the elections and subsequently upheld by the Appeal court in Kaduna.

“Nine polling units are in Mashi while 6 are in Dutsi; 150 ad hoc staff including serving corps members in the state would be used for the re-run election.”

He called for cooperation of all stakeholders towards a successful exercise.

The Peoples Democratic Party candidate Nazifi Bello had challenged the return of APC candidate Mansur Ali at the tribunal that granted his prayers.

APC appealed and lost at the Appeal Court Kaduna and later the Appeal court then direct INEC to conduct the re-run in the 15 polling units within one month.
