Gov. Matawalle hints on reopening schools, to deploy security operatives

Zamfara State Government has assured of its readiness to deploy security operatives to schools in the State for adequate protection of the students and their teachers.

Governor Matawalle said that it was due to insecurity that forced his administration to shut down all the institutions in the state, saying that he would soon reopen the schools.

He disclosed this when some students paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Gusau, the State capital, as part of activities marking the International Day of the Girl Child.

DAILY POST reports that the Governor vacated his seat to Zainab Bello, a J.S.S two student of Unity School, Kortokoshi for almost an hour to act as the Governor of the State.

Zainab Bello performed one of functions of the Governor by posting a Commissioner-designate, Hon. Fa’ika Ahmed to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

Bello assured that she would protect the rights and promote the education of the Girl Child in the State, as part of her development agenda for the State.

However, the Governor promised that his administration would pay its counterpart funds for the year 2021 Universal Basic Education (UBEC) and would continue to improve the standard of education, especially of the girl child in Zamfara State.

In her response, the Chairperson of High -Level Women Advocate (HLWA) Maryam Na’inna said that the significance of the International Day of the Girl Child could not be overemphasized.

The event was attended by two former deputy governors of the State, Hon. Mukhtar Anka and Mallam Ibrahim Wakala Liman, the Chief of Staff, Commissioners -designate and other relevant stakeholders.
