Gianluigi Buffon names five world best goalkeepers, snubs De Gea

Legendary Italian goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon, has named his top five goalkeepers in the world.

Surprisingly, the Juventus number one left out Manchester United’s David De Gea.

Ahead of Juventus Champions League quarter final second leg clash with Real Madrid on Wednesday, the goalkeeper was asked to list his top five goalies.

The 40-year-old surprisingly overlooked Spanish first-choice keeper despite his sublime performances for Manchester United over the last few seasons.

Buffon, however, named Premier League duo of Manchester City’s Ederson and Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois.

He told reporters, “Not taking into account Italian keepers, I would say [Jan] Oblak, [Keylor] Navas, [Marc-Andre] ter Stegen, Ederson, [Manuel] Neuer and Courtois.

“I hope I did not forget anybody.”
