Four suspects arrested for rape, robbery in Sokoto

Sokoto State police Command has arrested four suspects for rape and armed robbery in Kuringa village of Yabo Local Government Area.

Spokesman of the command, Cordelia Nwewe, made the disclosure on Wednesday while briefing newsmen on the arrest in Sokoto.

Nwewe said that items recovered from the suspects include: one locally made pistol, Dane gun and live ammunition.

She said that the suspects Abubakar Muhammad, Ali Usman, Aliyu Abubakar and Nafi’u Umar were arrested on Feb. 8, after the victim, Alhaji Abubakar Umaru reported the matter to the police.

Nwewe disclosed that investigation revealed that Umar was the informer who directed them to the victim’s house.

She said that three suspected accomplishes, Kiruwa Sahabi, Abubakar Alu and Jamo Kebbi were still at large.

The spokesman said the suspects armed with cutlasses and knifes, raided Umaru’s house and carted away his motorcycle valued at N250,000, N300,000 cash, radio recorder and other valuables.

She stated that the suspects injured the victim and raped his wife, adding that they went further to beat up one Kakale Maiwada and robbed him of two Dane guns and torch lights.
