Fire razes rice farm in Bauchi

75 hectares of rice farm in Bauchi Local Government Area of Bauchi State has been razed down by fire.

The fire, which lasted for hours destroyed the rice plantation worth millions.

The rice farm, located at Liman, Katagum along Dass Road, belongs to two investors, a Director of Futlink West Africa Limited, Nasiru Mohammed, and one Auwal Mohammed.

The supervisor of the farm, Ahmed Mohammed, confirming the incident said the cause of the fire was still unknown.

According to him, the fire which lasted for more than two hours was aided by dry leaves and wind.

He said “the fire has destroyed rice under cultivation worth millions of naira.

“The fire was vicious, aided by dry leaves and wind. This farm has provided employment for over 1,000 youths in the state, so we are calling on stakeholders in the state to come to the aid of the investors, who have lost their source of livelihood.”
